SAST of Xidian University is the project support organization of three secondary disciplines, i.e., the Space Science and Technology, Detection Technology and Automatic Equipment, as well as Navigation, Guidance and Control. The subject area of SAST covers two first class disciplines, including the Control Science and Engineering, and also the Information and Communication Engineering.

Specialty of Space Science and Technologies

Space Science and Technologies is one of the secondary disciplines of SAST. The school offers the bachelor's, master’s and doctoral degree programs designed under this discipline to fulfill professional and personal goals. This subject is cross-disciplinary between two first class disciplines, i.e., the control science and engineering, as well as the communications engineering. The research area of this subject covers the information acquisition, processing, transmission and control for targets with high speed in the near and deep space environment. The research area also includes detecting and controlling the position, direction, orbit, and posture of moving aircraft with high speed.

Specialty of Navigation Guidance and Control

Navigation, Guidance and Control is one of the secondary disciplines subordinated to the first class discipline of Control Science and Engineering. The school offers the master’s and doctoral degree programs designed under this discipline, meanwhile admits undergraduate students majored in detection, guidance and control. This subject is based on the fundamentals of automatic control, precise instrument, computers, electronic technologies, and engineering mechanics. The goal is to design, develop and apply the electronic information system in field of modern navigation and control. The major research directions include: imaging mechanism and image processing technologies, image matching and tripping technologies, multi-period and multi-angle data aggregation, as well as the multi-target identifications.

Specialty of Detection Technologies and Automation Equipment

Detection Technologies and Automation Equipment is a high-tech interdisciplinary subject which integrates the information acquisition and modern control technologies together. This subject mainly studies how the information system acquires information from external environment and how to construct an automation system by exploiting advanced technologies in intelligent information processing and modern control. This programme is designed for aspiring graduates and engineers who seek an in-depth understanding of detection and control. The programme aims to equip students to adapt to the challenging demands of modern automation industries. Students will be trained in various aspects from conducting scientific research to designing, developing, and integrating real systems.
